Toys, TV and Autism is a website meant to inform about Autism Spectrum Disorder and the role of internal or one-way communication plays in the genesis of the condition. The website is built around the book, The Pied Pipers of Autism. The author, Leonard Oestreicher, MD, presents a groundbreaking and controversial theory which he calls the “The Integrated Theory of Autism.” Certainly genetic factors have a role to play in this condition, but so do environmental factors. Dr. Oestreicher rather than blaming vaccines and mercury, lays fault on the bewidering array of one-way communication our infants are exposed to in their nurseries with today's social environment.

"Could infants videos encourage some babies to confuse people with objects? Could talking toys and the things that infants see on TV and other video devices be so compelling that some babies lose interest in social relationships with people around them? Could this be why so many children today are developing ASD?"

Leonard Oestreicher, MD - September 25, 2011
